concentrates his practice in handling complex business and international litigation and alternative dispute resolution, as well as intellectual property and franchising and technology-related legal matters. He has handled numerous state and federal cases including multi-jurisdictional disputes, RICO cases, lender liability matters, antitrust and unfair competition claims, professional liability suits and business torts, among others. Additionally, he has extensive experience in structuring e-commerce, computer and Internet-related transactions and agreements; counseling on and resolving patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret disputes; and in litigating computer-related and other high technology matters.
Mr. Rojas is a member of the Bars of the Supreme Court of the United States; of the United States' Eighth, Eleventh and Federal Circuits Courts of Appeal; and of the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. He served two consecutive terms as Chair of the Florida Bar's Computer Law Committee and serves on the Dade County Bar Association's Federal Courts Committee (Vice Chair 2004), as well as on the Litigation and International Law sections of the American Bar Association. Mr. Rojas is also a member of the International Trademark Association (Internet Committee Assignment 2008 - 2009), the Defense Research Institute (Chair, Diversity Initiative of Commercial Litigation Committee), and the Intellectual Property and the Computer Law Committees of the Florida Bar's Business Law Section.
Mr. Rojas has spoken at numerous national and international seminars concerning intellectual property and technology law, franchising law, international business and litigation, professional liability litigation, and trial strategy. Mr. Rojas has handled several high profile lawsuits including a major copyright case that received national attention and one of the first cases addressing governance of the domain name space on the Internet.
Locally, Mr. Rojas was Vice Chair and a member of the Executive Committee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce from 2002-2004. Mr. Rojas is Past Chair of the Chamber's award winning International Business Group and served as a member of the Chamber’s Strategic Planning Committee.
Born in Havana, Cuba, Mr. Rojas immigrated to the United States in 1961 and lived in Ohio and the U.S. Virgin Islands before settling in Florida in 1967. He studied computer programming for three years in a high school "magnet" program and earned his B.A. in English and Philosophy from the University of Florida in 1978, with honors in Philosophy. Mr. Rojas then attended law school at the University of Miami, graduating cum laude in 1981. In law school, Mr. Rojas was an Articles and Comments Editor of the school's International Law Review and served as a member of the Moot Court Board.
Mr. Rojas holds the highest ratings assigned by Martindale-Hubbell, is listed in several "Who's Who" publications including Marquis' Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who In Florida's Latin Community, Who's Who In Intellectual Property, and Who's Who in International E-Commerce.
